A graduate of Indiana University, founder and CEO of DEFENDER Direct Dave Lindsey obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance. After completing his studies, he opted to open his own business and began to lay the seeds for DEFENDER Direct. Dave Lindsey and his wife started the company with $30,000 of their own money. An authorized ADT Security Systems dealer and installer, DEFENDER Direct first operated out of a spare bedroom in the Lindseys' home in Indiana. Within 6 months, DEFENDER Direct consisted of 10 employees but still conducted business out of the apartment. In its first year, the firm won $15,000 in a sales contest initiated by ADT. DEFENDER Direct continued to expand over the years, and its growth earned it placement on Inc. magazine's 500 fastest-growing companies list in 2008 and 2009. Today, DEFENDER Direct consists of 1,500 employees, 4 call centers, and over 120 offices in 46 States and Canada. The firm’s headquarters are located in Indianapolis. In addition to ADT security systems, DEFENDER Direct is an authorized merchant of DISH Network, LLC television services and UTC Fire & Security systems. In 2010, Dave Lindsey earned the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Retail and Consumer Products in the Midwest area. He also was elected to a seat on the Indianapolis 500 Festival Board of Directors. Actively involved in the industry, DEFENDER Direct belongs to professional groups such as the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association and the American Teleservices Association Self Regulatory Organization.
